Biking in Gironde (Arcachon, Lacanau, Margaux, Blaye, Bourg) 2003 (Part 1) : In September 2003, we started our biking trip in Arcachon (nice little town on the Atlantic Ocean famous for its fresh oysters and the Dune du Pilat). In Arcachon, we took a boat to get to Cap Ferret and then, we rode north along the ocean to Lacanau (a surfing town). The next day, we rode east in the famous wine country of Bordeaux. To cross the Gironde estuary, we took a ferry to Blaye.

Biking in Dordogne 2003 (Part 3) : Biking in Dordogne is perfect: quiet roads, excellent food even if you don't eat meat, a lot of interesting sites to visit. We stayed in le Bugue and explored the area. Les Eyzies de Tayac (busy and touristy town) calls itself the "World Capital of Prehistory"

We also enjoyed the "Musee du Velocipede" in Cadouin.

Biking in Parc Naturel du Quercy 2003 (Part 5) : After Sarlat, we rode east leaving the Dordogne behind us and going into the departement of Lot (also known as Quercy). Dry limestone causses (plateaus) are a feature of this beautiful Parc Naturel. Rocamadour, a famous pilgrimage center is also well known for its delicious goat cheese.
After Rocamadour, we rode through other beautiful little towns (Carennac, St Cere, Figeac where Jean-Francois Champollion, the founder of Egyptology, was born, St Cirq Lapopie and finally Cahors, a "big" city)

Biking from Millau to Avignon 2003 (Part 6) : After our great ride from Arcachon to Cahors, we decided to take a train (Cahors-Toulouse-Millau).
Millau has been in the French and international news for several reasons:
1) Millau is in the Parc Regional des Grands Causses, at the beginning of the Gorges du Tarn.
